1st round in keeper league WHIR

Postby royalty » Wed Mar 23, 2011 10:19 am

Hello,

I have Cano, Longoria, Braun and Andrus as my keepers and am picking 8th. I'm thinking about another outfielder for my first pick. Probable available players are;

Ichiro, Pence, Ethier, Rios for Outfield
Mccann or Carlos Santana if i wanted to go Catcher
Or maybe I go Soria/Bell as a top tier closer

We keep 3 bats, 2 arms (mine are Carpenter and Lee) and one young keeper born 87 or later. Where should I focus my draft pick. All the good 1st basemen are already kept (except morales who's hurt).

Do not draft a closer in the first round. That's the first step for failure. Every year there are atleast 5 closers that step up big.

I would go with McCann. Catcher is the thinnest position and just like closers, every year a few turn out to be studs.

I agree with the guy above me... McCann is a solid pick. He's one of the premier catchers in the league, don't pass that up. Last year, he single handed gave me many wins by "out-dueling" my opponents catcher.

Well I ended up taking Rios in the first after almost every pick ahead of me was an outfielder. With 2 picks in the second round I got Heath Bell and Mccann so I got everything I wanted. As for the rest of the draft well...I missed out on a couple players, namely Delmon Young but overall pretty happy.
