Auction advice

I'm going to be in a shallow standard 5x5 10 team league. I'm new to auctions and i'm not sure how to approach this with 10 teams.

Do i over pay for the 3 best then get a bunch at a few bucks knowing its still going to be decent players.

OR, do I get as many players around $15 knowing they ware worth more than that?

Any thoughts appreciated.
