Fellow fantasy baseball players,
It has come time in my league to select 2 keepers and I am stuck. I decided to come to the 1 place I could trust, the randomness of internet strangers. Please help me out here. Per the sticky post, my league is as follows:
1.) It is a Head-to-head league
2.) The categories are: For the batters Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base Percentage (OBP)
and for the pitchers Innings Pitched (IP), Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)
3.) My roster is/was:
Postion Players:
Lance Berkman
Ryan Braun
Jay Bruce
Marlon Byrd
Alberto Callaspo
Ike Davis
Derek Jeter
Nick Markakis
Mike Napoli
Buster Posey
Martín Prado
Brian Roberts
David Wright
Pitchers:
John Axford
Clay Buchholz
Matt Cain
Yovani Gallardo
Francisco Liriano
Jonathon Niese
Max Scherzer
Brian Wilson (of the Giants and late night TV fame)
5.) We start C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3x OF, Util, 2X Starting Pitchers, 2X Relief Pitcher, 3X Pitcher (any flavor of pitcher).
QUESTION(s) HERE (for the tl;dr crowd)I have my hitting keepers narrowed down to Ryan Braun or Buster Posey. I can keep 1 hitter and 1 pitcher. The kepers count as my first and second round picks. Do I keep Braun as the safe bet and assume that Posey is due for a sophomore slump, or do I keep Posey because after him my options at catcher dwindle to not much, and there's plenty of outfielders in the sea. I can not keep a pitcher, and then hope I get a high draft pick and pick the other one up, but I tried that last year with Braun and Prince Fielder and it didn't work so well.
As a corollary to my hitting question, are any of my pitchers worth keeping? I though about Gallardo because I'm a Brewers fan and prone to bad homer decisions or Brian Wilson, but Wilson doesn't strike me a first or second round pick and Gallardo hasn't been great.
