Draft tonight What Round Should I Grab Hellickson ?

Looking to draft Hellickson but I've been hearing that he may not be on the opening day rotation.

My question is:
What Rd should I look to draft Hellickson?
Also how would you guys rank:

I would say 14th-16th round for Hellickson seems right. He went 14th in ours, though we were SP starved bc of the keepers taken already.

I actually agree with your ranking of those pitchers... though I might switch Chacin ahead of Gio possibly.

Hellickson went #1 overall in my new dynasty's prospect draft (still no MLB draft 'til Thurs), and I haven't had any drafts yet, so I can't speak from experience.

I haven't heard anything about Hellickson not making the opening day rotation, but to be honest I haven't kept tabs on him lately. On ESPN, he's being drafted ~163rd, which I guess would be 13-14th round. That might be a little early for my tastes, but from what I've read that's about where he's going everywhere. If he can get anywhere close to 200 innings, it's probably worth it.

As for those pitchers you listed, here's where I have them:

Jhoulys Chacin
Jeremy Hellickson
Madison Bumgarner
Gio Gonzalez
Kyle Drabek
Mike Minor

The only reason I have Minor so low is because he's the only one I'd be concerned about IP. I like Chacin a lot this year, and if we're basing this on ADP, I love Gio. Out of these 6, I think he's probably the best bet to significantly outperform his ADP.

The last I heard was that Hellickson was set for opening day even with the injury setbacks he's had during the spring. I think he's going to be solid this year, but wouldn't reach on him. I never go into a draft saying that I will with 100% certainty draft a player (unless I had the #1 pick or something, but I never do!). If you feel that he's available at a pick you're comfortable making, do it.

In a 10-team league, I drafted Hellickson in the 23rd rd with my 226th pick - which would make it your late 18th rd. I feel like I got great value from that pick, and I would have drafted him earlier had I not already targeted Dempster and Danks.
