20 team, 22 week divisional play schedule

Postby timeastin » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:31 pm

ok math whizzes, i'm in a league of four divisions with five teams in each. i would like to have each team play division rivals at the start and end of the season while playing one game against remaining teams. i know some teams won't play in their division to finish the season as there are an odd number of teams in each division. any help would be appreciated.

4 games in-division X 2 = 8 games
5 games out-division X 3 divisions = 15 games

8 + 15 = 23

There's your first problem. To solve your problem of creating your schedule, you can do it the same way I do my football: I make a spreadsheet with teams running across and teams running down. Then when I make a matchup I put in the week. It ensures that everyone plays each other and there's no double-ups. If that's too much work, check here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 114AAMEhBe
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

If you want a 20 team -- 22 week schedule that is possible. Play each team in your division three times for 12 weeks. Play two other divisions once each. That is 22 weeks. There would be one division that you would not play. MLB does not play all teams, so it works out. If you want me to make the schedule for you send me an email with your team names in each division to bigmck@sbcglobal.net
