Sell High on Mat Latos?

Hey guys,

Mat Latos has been struggling a little bit in the spring. Do you think he's a prime sell high candidate? He was awesome last year, but it's tough for me to see him repeat his numbers. Any insight and advice would be great! Thanks!

I still like him just fine this season, but I always listen to offers on all my players. Would I actively shop him? No, but if the right deal comes along he's not a guy I would never deal either.

Always depends on what you can get for him. I wouldn't panic about ST numbers. So many times they are working on pitches or location or something else. Saying that, there is a lot of concern over how big of an innings jump he had last year. Many SP struggle the next season after that big of a jump in innings. So I would look to move him but only if you can get full value out of him.

I wouldn't trade him for a bag of balls but I would definitely be listening. He has great stuff there is no arguing that. If he stays healthy he is a stud. But last year he threw a ton more pitches than then year before, it was his first full season, and he throws his slider a ton. All that combined has me worried he could be in for some trouble. Also I don't see the Padres repeating the run they had last year so his Wins total will probably go down.

I'd sell if you can, though a lot of owners will rightfully be nervous about him. Aside from the innings jump, he had a lower-than-average BABIP.

Also, look at his September from last year (last 5 starts): 1-4, 6.21 ERA, 1.55 WHIP.

Also, the only SD batter worth a damn now plays for the Red Sox.
