Looking to fill my UTIL and add some Carlos Lee insurance at 1B. Adam LaRoche, Derrek Lee (wrist injury...forget it), and Ike Davis are the best bets at 1B. LaRoche and D Lee are more proven, but LaRoche is dealing with shoulder issues this spring and D Lee is having wrist problems. Davis has looked good so far this spring but is obviously unproven.
I'm leaning towards Davis for the younger player progression possibilities and to pass on the over 30 injured 1B types...thoughts?
IMO, go with Davis. Several of my diehard Mets friends, and from what I've read from "analysts", see him having a breakout year. Saw several articles that expect him to hit in either the #2 or #5 slot, so it sounds like he'll be batting around the top half of the order, surrounded by some pretty good talent - Reyes, Wright, Bay. No expert here, just my two cents.
