End Game - Filling Roster

Postby Swipe79 » Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:20 pm

Standard Scoring 5X5 Rotisserie League with 14 teams. We start 2 C, 2 1B, 2 2B, 2 3B, 2 SS, 5 OF, 10 P (Starter or Reliever) - so pretty deep as we end up drafting about 400 players total.

Here is my roster so far - keepers and picks:
C - Mike Napoli
1B - Mark Teixeira, Kevin Youkilis
2B - Martin Prado, Ryan Raburn
3B - Jhonny Peralta (SS)
SS - Derek Jeter, JJ Hardy
OF - Carl Crawford, Shane Victorino, Drew Stubbs, Mike Stanton, Carlos Quentin
SP - Shaun Marcum, Ricky Nolasco, Matt Garza, Ervin Santana, Jonathan Niese, Travis Wood
RP - Brian Wilson, Mariano Rivera, Ryan Franklin
Farm: Jesus Montero, Jose Tabata

We're at the stage where it is filling in the last pieces to the championship (hopefully) puzzle. I need to grab 1 pitcher, 1 catcher, and one player that fits somewhere in the 2B/3B mix.

Here are some of my choices:
C - John Buck, Yadier Molina, Carlos Ruiz, AJ Pierzynski, John Jaso, Nick Hundley
2B - Bill Hall, Jed Lowrie (SS), Freddy Sanchez, Orlando Hudson
3B - Placido Polanco, Alberto Callaspo, Brandon Inge
SS - Alex Gonzalez, Alexi Casilla (2B), Orlando Cabrera, Yuniesky Betancourt,
SP - Chris Narveson, James McDonald, Bud Norris, Jeff Niemann, Tim Stauffer, Jake Westbrook, Jeremy Guthrie, Clayton Richard, Joel Pineiro
RP - Chris Sale, Johnny Venters, Hong Chi Kuo, Jake McGee, Kevin Gregg - a bunch of semi-closer or nice bullpen arms.

Teams still need to draft the following at each position:
C - 14
1B - 4
2B - 6
3B - 4
SS - 3
OF - 20
P - 30

Any help is appreciated, as always I WHIR when I can. Thanks!

I'd take Minor or Nunez.

I would go with JJ Hardy next...he moved to a hitter's park and is having a good spring.

After that I would consider Lyon (least competition), Wood, Rolen, Stauffer, and Minor

Help with mine?

Think I would take Polanco.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

Took Travis Wood, JJ Hardy with my next pick, and Polanco may fall to me as well. Depends on the guy drafting right now.

If I don't get Polanco, I am trying to decide between Casilla at 2B, move Prado to 3B until Youk is ready - or either a pitcher or catcher. Catcher still has some decent players there and there is still decent depth at P. After my next pick I skip a round from a previous trade and my last two picks are the 22nd and 23rd round.

How do you guys rank the Catchers or Pitchers left - just give me a few that stand above the rest maybe. If I need to wait on a 2B/3B, I am also looking at Jed Lowrie as a filler.
