My offense is pretty solid, esp in power cats: Votto, Tex, N.Cruz, Kemp, Bautista, Weeks, Sandoval, Napoli...but my pitching is weak: Hanson, C.Lewis, Javy V., de la Rosa, J.Zimmerman, Axford, Storen, League, Bard. I have Ka'Kaihue on my bench and though I think he'll be a solid sleeper power/AVG source, with the guys above he could be expendable. I have first waiver pick tomorrow a.m. and thinking of dropping him for either a SP or a speculative closer RP who has SOME upside or sleeper potential.
SP possibilities: Mike Minor, Tim Stauffer, Homer Bailey, Bedard (I know, I know, don't groan...this is a deep league), Masterson.
RP: Hensley, Kuo, Ogando (if Feliz moves to starter?), Gregerson, Contreras, Meek, Venters, Clippard (I have Storen), Howell (McGee no sure thing), Jepsen/Downs (Rodney volatile)
Please choose your TOP choice, whether it's SP or RP. (We have no innings limit, incidentally).
Honestly, I don't think I'd waste a waiver pick on any of these guys, you never know who will get dropped midseason.
That said, if you can make a move without losing waiver spots (dunno if you have straight-up free agents or not) I would look at Tim Stauffer, i like SD starters quite a bit.
I'd lose my waiver priority, #1 (drafted #12) right now.
Does the news that Bailey is visiting Dr. Death (James Andrews) today make Fuentes any more attractive? Balfour/Wuertz also there, but Fuentes seems to be most likely candidate.
I think Minor's the way to go. You already have 3 closers. League will probably not stay at closer, but maybe you can pick up Tampa Bay's closer later on. It could be anyone of Farnsworth, Peralta or McGee. Howell I would'nt count on, since he's still injured.
Thanks, all...bigger question is whether to blow my #1 waiver slot now, or wait for someone "better" to be dropped or called up. If I go now, I'll probably snag Minor...but also keep an eye on Fuentes/Wuertz/Balfour sitch should Bailey be hurt longterm
