I'm joining a new keeper league H2H points league and taking over a team that needs work. I have to keep one player (unfortunately I am forced to drop Longoria and Pedroia). Depending on how many keepers other teams keep, I may have the opportunity to pick whoever is left over from Hanley, Cano and Longoria (otherwise I'd pick from Lincecum/Teixeira).
I am debating between Matt Cain, Yovani Gallardo and Francisco Liriano. I have these guys ranked virtually back to back to back. Cain is less of a strikeout pictcher but has superior ratios. In a points league I'm leaning slightly toward Cain, but I'm very torn and would appreciate some input.

It's between Gallardo and Liriano to me. I would take Gallardo. I worry about how Liriano's arm is going to hold up with how much he throws his slider.
League Setup: 13 Team Points League 6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter) 1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1 Win = 12, Save = 5
all these people are insane...stick with cain...i am in the same scenerio....i have to chose between cain and liriano to go along with lester and hanson as my last keeper....
everyone yells and says liriano liriano liriano and hates on cain for about 3 consecutive years saying hes unlucky and so on...hes done notohing but get bettter every single year and stay consistent...i am also in a points league onCBS and i am keeping cain...i have had him for the last 3 seasons, he tears it up
I love Cain too, I had him last year, but he just came off of a season where he threw over 223 innings in the regular season, then throw in his post season innings and he's pushing 250 which is scary for a youngish guy, and he has already had a small issue with his elbow (though not a major one, it is still worrisome). Both Gallardo and Liriano give higher K rates, and Gallardo is less of an injury risk when it comes to elbow and shoulder problems. I think all three are pretty solid, but Gallardo also has the best offence of the three behind him, meaning he'll have a much better chance of higher Win totals. I love Cain and hope to draft him again this year, but not as high as I would have last year. Liriano's elbow has always scared me, but he is pretty lights out as well.
guys...CBS HEAD TO HEAD POINTS league i said!!...strikeouts are almsot worthless....(.5) per k......innings and quality starts rule the league....you have to look at the league type and scoring before u shout out that things are absurd....cain consistently goes 7 innings with a quality start almost everytime out
