Trade Advice

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:41 am

So, I have some depth at SP but would like to imrpove my SS/MI spot (Currently Furcal)

Looking to trade for Ian Desmond.

The owner who has Desmond is looking for starting pitching, so I wanna make a deal. But I SUCK at coming up with offers.

So, here I am, seeking the Cafe's wisdom...

My SP (that I would consider trading)

Trevor Cahill
Ricky Nolasco
Anibal Sanchez
Travis Wood

All have potential plus side, so not sure who is best to offer in a straight 1-for-1 offer. ANy thoughts? All help is appreciated and I will gladly help those who ask and leave a link. :)

Depending on league settings, Anibal Sanchez or Travis Wood would be acceptable losses. I'd start with Wood and see where that gets you. So you have Furcal at SS and who at MI? That would help to know as well.

I personally prefer Furcal over Desmond, but if you think he can better last year's numbers, I'd offer him Anibal or Cahill. If Wood can be as good as he was last year, he should outperform Anibal in the WHIP category with ERA and Ks being about the same. Wood pitched over 200 innings last year, so he should be ready to pitch a whole season in the bigs.

Cahill has a bad K-rate and is due for some major regression this year, even though the A's solid defense should help him maintain an ERA below 4.

Agree with Shauntell, Desmond isn't much of an upgrade, if at all, though he does have more upside. But if you want him I would start and Wood and work your way up from there. Go to Sanchez next. Cahill and Nolasco are both pretty even to me if he won't take Wood or Sanchez.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

Oh good point. MI is Yuniesky Betancourt.

So you're really talking about replacing Yuni with Desmond - that's a whole different story than Furcal with Desmond.

I'd trade either Wood/Sanchez without much thought, but Cahill or Nolasco might be a bit much.

I happen to like Travis Wood over Anibal Sanchez - so I would offer Anibal to him first. I suppose I would offer him Sanchez, Wood, Cahill in that order.
