Sportsline Auction Feature - Anyone done this?

Postby BillyHallDisciple » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:18 pm

We have a 12-team keeper league that has an auction this Saturday (3/19).

We expect 11 of 12 people in the room for the auction. The 12th man is out of town, so he might do Skype or do face time via i-phone with another team owner.

Anyways most of the people in the league want to conduct the whole auction on-line & are bringing their laptops, but four of the people are opposed to doing the on-line auction (they want to have all bids done verbally) and are not bringing laptops.

Is there a way to efficiently conduct an auction where you have both verbal & on-line bids simultaneously? It seems like it could create a lot of confusion.

Having commissioner powers (as I do) helps me to manually enter amounts, back out errors, suspend the draft but I don't know if I'd be able to enter players after time has expired on the bid or if any other problems could come up?

Does anyone have experience with Sportsline's live auction room or any ideas for solutions? Am I worried about nothing?

Do live auction or CBS auction. Don't try to do both. It won't work.

What we do is we use the CBS online auction, gather most of the league (this year we had 10 out of 12) in one place, buy a draft board from fjfantasy.com, and hire a girl to put the players and salaries up as we go along.

But don't let them put their drafting onto you. It's not fair. It's not right. Nobody will be happy.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

I would do an offline auction. Have the absent guy on the phone and everyone do the auction live. When it is over have everyone give you a paper with their team and salary. You can enter everything that night. I do that every year. It takes about two hours.

We are doing an online auction with 9 of 12 owners in my basement and the remaining 3 in the auction room and on skype so they can be in the loop for trades and pauses. Don't do online and off line. Pick one.
