What offensive stats am I lacking?

Postby dhibbit@gmail.com » Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:15 pm

I'm never good at judging my offense as a whole, not good at coming up with stat targets. What do you guys think?

6x6 H2H league, Std + OPS and L, Up to 6 keepers allowed, 10 teams total, two Util spots.

My Keepers:
Crawford, Utley, Felix Hernandez, Bautista, Adam Dunn and Josh Johnson.

Full Team (Draft pick in parenthesis)

C Napoli (13)
1B Dunn (K)
2B Utley (K)
3B Bautista (K)
SS Furcal (14)
OF Crawford (K)
OF Granderson (9)
OF Hunter (11)
Util/Bench Butler, 1B (10)
Util/Bench Castro, SS (16)
Util/Bench Brian Roberts, 2B (17)
Util/Bench Jason Kubel, OF (19)
Util/Bench Marco Scutaro, SS (20)

SP Felix Hernandez (K)
SP Josh Johnson (K)
SP Jered Weaver (7)
SP Mat Latos (8)
SP Brandon Morrow (15)
SP Ricky Romero (18)
SP Javier Vazquez (21)
RP Joakim Soria (12)

21 rounds total, I'm thinking I jumped too high to get Napoli, and that I could use a better SS, but there really aren't any available in my league (all tied up as keepers). I know I need another RP or two, I'm thinking about Leo Nunez off waivers for Vazquez and possibly Rafael Soriano for Scutaro to help with ERA/WHIP/Ks. I'd also like to deal an SP but I would love to know what batting stats I should look for.

Thanks, I'm new here but will definitely try to return the favor!

Your hitting seems pretty good but you'll be hurting badly in avg with Dunn, Bautista, and Granderson. But you should have good power/ops numbers.

I agree with your assessment of needing a closer.

Seems like you should have a solid team

Yeah, I went ahead with a couple of moves, I now have:

Posada for Kubel - Wanted a backup C in case Napoli doesn't get a lot of AB
Soriano for Scutaro - Looking to help out ERA/WHIP/Ks and get a sleeper for SVs
Nunez for Vazquez - Needed an RP and didn't need 7 SPs

I just got a trade offer today for:

J. Johnson, J. Weaver and M. Latos for M. Teixeira, Hiroki Kuroda, Johnny Cueto.

Talk about tempting! I like Kuroda too and I'd be 'selling high' on Weaver and Latos, and even to some degree on Johnson if his injury problems flare back up.

I've no idea what to do!
His full team:

C Carlos Santana, Cle - I'm def. interested in him.
1B Mark Teixeira, NYY 1B
2B Rickie Weeks, Mil 2B
3B Adrian Beltre, Tex 3B
SS Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS - Obviously like him, but I don't think he'd ever deal him.
OF Nelson Cruz, Tex OF
OF B.J. Upton, TB OF
OF Chris Young, Ari OF
UTIL Joey Votto, Cin 1B
UTIL Adam Lind, Tor DH
Bench Nick Swisher, NYY OF
Bench David Ortiz, Bos DH

P Ted Lilly, LAD SP
P Colby Lewis, Tex SP
P Hiroki Kuroda, LAD SP
SP Ubaldo Jimenez, Col SP
SP David Price, TB SP - Very big fan of Price as well, doubtful he would include him over Cueto or Kuroda though
RP J.J. Putz, Ari RP
RP Ryan Franklin, StL RP
Bench Brett Myers, Hou SP
Bench Johnny Cueto, Cin SP

The offense seems all around weak besides SB to me for a 10 teamer. The pitching is top notch.

I agree, I've certainly fallen behind in the number of batting keepers.

What do you think about the trade offer I just got:

J. Johnson, J. Weaver and M. Latos for M. Teixeira, Hiroki Kuroda, Johnny Cueto.

Allows me to grab one of those batting keepers, but I take a big hit on SP, though I do like Kuroda, def not a fan of Cueto.

Too much IMO. Kuroda and Cueto are fringy starters in a 10 team league.

His 2nd offer:

Votto/Kuroda for Dunn/Latos/Weaver

Any thoughts?

Still too much. With OPS Dunn is pretty valuable. I'd offer one of Latos or Weaver.
