Help Me With The # 4 Pick

Postby northjersey78 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 12:22 pm

I currently have the # 4 pick in both of my pay leagues.

League 1:

10 team H2H
Keeper League - decided to start fresh and redraft - beginning next year everyone keeps 1 pitcher, 1 hitter and 1 pitcher/ hitter
Roster: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Hitter Categories: Runs (R), Doubles (2B), Triples (3B), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)
Pitcher Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Complete Games (CG), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Quality Starts (QS)

League 2:

12 team Rotisseries Points Style
Asof now it is a non-keeper league - may discuss changing to keeper beginning next year
Roster: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, OF, OF, OF, OF, Util, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Hitter Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG) Pitcher Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

My gut tells me I should go with Tulowitzki - his insane September helped me in both leagues last year. Who knows how Cabrera will fare with his recent drinking problem issues.

I will also note that I am a Yankees homer, so I considered Cano which may be a reach at # 4. But he and Tulo make a case because of their age and position scarcity - although Tulo could be an injurt risk.

If Cabrera falls to four, I would snag him. I would be fine with Cano at #4 as well. Really after Pujols and Hanley I think the next 8 guys or so could go in any order. I love Tulo as much as the next guy but you take that amazing month away and his numbers are pretty subpar.

I wouldn't blame you for picking Tulo, but I'd take Miggy at 4 without hesitating.

Sure, the guy's got a drinking problem. He's had one for quite some time. So do more ball players than you think. In spite of that, he's continued to put up elite numbers. If anything, I'm counting on recent news pushing him down in value to where he's slightly undervalued.

Deff take Mige if he falls to 4. But if hes not there i wouldn't mind taking Longoria or Tulo depending on your draft strategy. If you feel like waiting on a 3B take Tulo.

How about mine?

I would go Miggy, Votto, Longo.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

I guess I am just looking more at position scarcity which is why Tulo and even Cano are appealing. Especially given the fact that 1 league is a keeper league.

Any justification for Carlos Gonzalez at # 4?

I'd take Tulo over him because of position scarcity, and I think I'd prefer Votto's numbers as well, but I wouldn't blame you.

I'm a big believer in CarGo having a similar season as last year, but I'd take Cabrera, Votto, or Longo over him... depending on who's available at your draft spot...
