Both Mauer and McCann are being kept. At what point would you go after Soto, M.Montero, Napoli, Weiters or Suzuki in a 12 team 6 player draft 19 players 5x5 keeper league? How soon would you take one of these guys and in what order? If they are all gone by the middle rounds would you take the best avalible which would be a crap shoot at the end of the draft?

i might be willing to take Wieters a little earlier than that but nothing before round 10. Probably wait until i see one or two of the above go and then grab one of the others.

You've listed rounds I should consider taking them. Keep in mind this is a keeper league . Non of those players would last that long. I think even Pierzynski will go before the 14th round.

I agree, they might not be there, but you will capitalize on the best available player. The stats of those Catchers will be few and far between and will not outweigh drafting an everyday position player. Remember, 1/2 of your league already have catchers so they won't draft a 2nd one just b/c. If you can't get the top 3 or 4 of a position, then don't reach just b/c. Keep in mind when drafting, whatever position you are in, the people before and after you and what their needs are...if someone needs a catcher and you want one that is available, look to see if they have that same need, if they do, then maybe you grab them, if not, then you can hold off on the turn.
Good points ! Makes a lot of sense. I usually don't keep track of the other teams during the draft. For many reasons looks like I should. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help . But I realize catchers unless his name is Mauer or Posey go late in a NEW draft. This is a 6 player keeper as stated in my opening question. I expect most GM's would take the big name position player and top pitchers for taking a second , third or later tier catcher.
