I'm in a deep 20 team, 25 keeper, 30 roster slot dynasty league. Categories are 6x6 with standard categories plus OPS and Holds.
I was offered the following trade:
My:
Jon Lester
for:
Aramis Ramirez
Carlos Lee
Kyle Blanks
My expected keepers at the moment:
C - Joe Mauer
1b - Derrek Lee
2b - Ryan Theriot
3b - Johnny Peralta
ss - Juan Uribe
of - Nelson Cruz
of - Josh Hamilton
of - Carlos Beltran
util - Adam LaRoche
util - Vladimir Guerrero
bench - Seth Smith, Mark Ellis, Nyjer Morgan
SP - Jon Lester
SP - Zach Greinke
SP - Francisco Liriano
SP - Ricky Nolasco
SP - Ryan Dempster
SP - Jake Peavy
SP - Jeremy Guthrie
RP - Mike Adams
RP - Matt Capps
RP - Joaquin Benoit
RP - Heath Bell
RP - Jose Valverde
Now, if I accepted the trade I'd move Ramirez into 3B and slide Peralta to SS and Uribe to 2B, relegating Theriot to my bench. I'd also not be keeping Mark Ellis and probably either Seth Smith, Mike Adams, or Benoit to make room.
But, the guy that offered the trade is a big Red Sox fan, and he's been trying to get Lester from me for over a year now. We even talked a few months ago, and I maintained that I would need either Mike Stanton or Pedro Alvarez as part of any deal. He wasn't interested in parting with them so we didn't talk any more. Much of my lineup is older now, and this would largely exacerbate that issue, but I do recognize that my window to win is probably in the next one or two seasons. I've been looking to hold onto my main pitching assets under the thinking that once my hitting starts to age and my team's championship hopes are over, I will be able to move them as part of a rebuilding phase as they will be in their primes and hopefully very valuable. So anyway, am I being unreasonable in demanding one of those two young players as part of the deal? Is the trade by itself anywhere close to matching Lester's value? And/or what kind of deal would you need with Alvarez or Stanton involved to move Lester?
