12 Team; H2H; 1 year 4 player keeper league - Already got Cargo, Pedo, and Wright kept for this year

I've had my mind made up all winter that it was a no brainer that Josh Johnson was gonna be my stud, but now I'm listening to Stephania Bell over on ESPN talking about major injury concerns still linger. And how JJ is waiting to fall apart on me.

Then there is tons of hype on the Phillies and Cole Hamels being a fantasy ace in the 4th spot of that rotation...

Any thoughts as to how serious I should take the JJ hate and the Cole hype?

I still prefer JJ over Hamels. The injury concerns are there, to be sure, but the upside is higher as well.

I think their upside is pretty equal. Hamels is on a much, much, much better team. I would go Hamels.

I would not worry about Hamels' spot in the rotation.

I agree with onitapgr, similar pitchers, but Hamels has less risk and is on a better team.

I would take JJ. I think JJ has more upside than Hamels at the moment but it is close.

I like the run support Hamels could get, with less injury concern and likely weaker opponents on game day (imagine facing the nationals' 4th starter?).

Can you help me think through whether to keep Jeter or not among these?

I'll say JJ by a hair. You have to be mindful of players who have experienced a back injury (albeit relatively minor in JJ's case) for risk of a flare-up. That said, I think JJ has a tad more upside than Hamels. It's really close though and I expect Hamels to perform similar to last season as well.

If they both pan out evenly in terms of talent (floor/ceiling/injury risk), then you need to go with situation: Hamels ;-D

JJ has more upside but I think you should play it a bit safer w/ keeper picks so I go hamels. really just depends how risky you feel when you turn it in
