I'd go with whoever is playing the worst pitching, and therefore more likely to get hits. If you're keeping the guys on the roster, it'll be a couple of weeks before they've hit enough to really tell what they are doing. I think that if you 'tweak' them more frequently, you can get some benefits from that sort of analysis.
W/ this group, for example, Kearns may turn out good or bad but starts off against the Cubs, even w/o Prior, he's got Wood, Zambrano, Maddux and Clement to face. Matos is playing Boston, also tough. Young's playing Toronto and Bradley's up against the Twins who might be the weakest staff of the four. Checking his stats last year, MB batted .500 vs. Minnesota. Looking at the BAs from last season, against the teams they'd open the season at, it'd be Bradley, Matos, Young and Kearns, in that order. I know there's some buzz re Kearns floating around here but there's a lot of buzz about the Cubs staff too!!!
I'm not sure if this'd work for Roto scoring but I do this stuff in H2H and every little bit helps....
