Zack Greinke, SP MIL
News: MLB.com reports Tuesday that Brewers SP Zack Greinke is suffering from a fractured rib and he is not going to be ready for opening day. In fact, Greinke is expected to miss his first three starts for the Brewers. Greinke apparently suffered the injury while playing basketball.
Analysis: This is horrible news, especially to the Fantasy owners who drafted him in the first few rounds. Greinke was expected to round out an excellent pitching staff in Milwaukee this season. The Cy Young Award winner went 10-14 last year for the Royals with a 4.17 ERA. He was expected to bounce back, though he did lose some Fantasy luster. Now that he's going to miss at least the first three starts, it definitely is a downer to his Fantasy value. In the big picture, you are still going to get most of his starts. That said, the biggest concern should be what happens after the first three starts. Will he be able to come back and pitch as previous expected? Fantasy owners will want to monitor this going forward and should view him with skepticism in all drafts.
