Keeper Draft - Who to target now? - WHIR

Postby tanyon » Tue Mar 08, 2011 2:09 pm

New keeper league draft in progress. 6x6 Roto (Holds & OPS)

So far I have:

Cano
Crawford
Texiera
Pedroia
Reyes

Halladay
JJohnson
Latos

We have a MI slot, so I grabbed Pedroia in the 6th because I thought he was a good value there.

At this point, which direction would you go? Maybe not even a specific player, but should I grab a 2nd OF or 3B, start the run on closers myself.....Here are the best available (Yahoo Ranks)

Butler
Rasmus
Morneau
Eithier
ARam
M. Young
Markakis
Victorino

Haren
Cain
Oswalt
Carpenter

Wilson
Soria
Bell
Paps
Putz

You don't need any more speed.
You need another big bat.
Do not reach for a closer yet.

1b Texiera
2b Cano
SS Reyes
MI Pedroia
OF Crawford

Halladay
JJohnson
Latos

Definitely go with Colby Rasmus or Andre Ethier here. You need a big bat for your OF and these two cover your needs. No need to reach for a closer. Although Roy Oswalt looks tempting, you'd have an illegal pitching staff if you took him. I'd go with one of these three.

You didn't post any viable 3b. Aramis Ramirez would be a solid selection but in a couple of rounds. You can always grab up an Ian Stewart or Edwin Encarnacion (shoot maybe even Prado) as value picks.

Continue to target cheap power wherever you can get it, just get the best value in each round. Don't target specific positions as you will miss out on better players. You've already missed out on the top tier 3b's so I'd wait until much later as mentioned above... Pedro Alvarez later on? Just make sure to have some high AVG guys to balance him out.

I like Morneau and Ethier. Not sure if you have a util spot which could make the decision for you. I think it is a bit early to grab either Rasmus or Alveraz. I would be fine with Cain but I think SP is deep enough that you would rather have the bat at this point.

Thanks for your help on mine.

I like Rasmus here. He's in for a big year, IMO.
