Postby captkirkcud » Tue Mar 08, 2011 1:18 pm

Should i drop Scott Downs for Chris Sale, Have no bullpen to speak of yet? Rate my 12 team roto 5x5 cats.......This is my Auto-pick team, will do my live draft next week. Got screwed in the pitching dept, will have to tweek staff Big time. Just picked up Brandon Webb, AJ Burnett and Pavano......also have no legit closer yet. Nobody at all left in my league for closing duties. Here is my team, i like my offense.....can i compete when i fix my pitching woes?

Hmm. Well Sale as of this point is more of a MR option and a backup to Thornton who just got a sizeable contract. His future is in the starting rotation barring an injury he will remain as the setup man.

Downs has the inside track to the closer's job, even Sciosia said he'd make Downs his closer if the season started today, so I'd just hang onto him for now.

You've got 3 closers, Kimbrel, Farnsworth and hopefully Downs so you should be ok there.

I am kinda hoping that Rangers make Feliz a starter, then i can make a move on Ogando or Mark Lowe whoever wins the job!

Keep an eye on:
Octavio Dotel
Brandon League (esp)
Wilton Lopez
David Hernandez (esp)
Koji Uehara (esp)

An (esp) means they could take over as closer at any moment considering their situation is shaky...in some cases, that's putting it nicely.

Joel hanranhan available by chance he's a unheralded name pitching for a cellar dwellar that might be flying under the radar. In one draft I was able to snag a closer from the same team with the very very last pick of the draft. Heck he was only the closer for two months, but still that's not bad for mr. irrelevant.

Yes, drop Downs for Sale. Also check out this thread and keep a close eye on the next guys in line for the job. Your hitters are pretty serious so you should at least compete well, but you will have to keep a very close eye on the WW and grab every available closer as they pop up throughout the season. You will also need to keep a close eye on starters as most of your guys are workhorses with limited upside.
