Next Two Picks

Postby silentjim » Mon Mar 07, 2011 3:09 pm

I need to make two picks for a manager who's fallen behind on his 24 hour draft clock and I want to make the picks as good as possible for him. Its a standard 5x5 league and his roster is below. I was looking to go pitching for him with both picks, but its hard to find consistent rankings with SP and RPs. Paul Konerko is also available and seems like he might be the consensus pick here for value especially since the manager could shift Bautista to OF and have the UTIL spot open. Thoughts?

The top 10 SPs per Yahoo available are:

Trevor Cahill (Oak - SP)
Jonathan Sánchez (SF - SP)
Josh Beckett (Bos - SP)
Phil Hughes (NYY - SP)
Madison Bumgarner (SF - SP)
Ryan Dempster (ChC - SP)
John Danks (CWS - SP)
Tim Hudson (Atl - SP)
Ricky Nolasco (Fla - SP)
Javier Vázquez (Fla - SP,RP)

Top RPs per Yahoo are:

Rafael Soriano (NYY - RP)
Francisco Cordero (Cin - RP)
Matt Thornton (CWS - RP)
Brad Lidge (Phi - RP)
Chris Pérez (Cle - RP)

I would go two pitchers for sure, probably one starter, one reliever. My choices would be Sanchez and Perez, but arguments could be made for a handful of those pitchers.

Hughes and Jon O. seem like your best pitching options here. Jon has had dominating stuff for a couple years and is finally able to control the inside of the plate. Hughes is guaranteed wins. If you wanted one to be a reliever I'd go for perez, but if you want to take a small risk, cordero is better but in slight jeopardy of splitting time, but i doubt it with his skill set.

help or advice on my points league team?

I'd like to see some of the hitters available.

I'd probably go with Hughes given those choices.

I would go with Quentin and either Hughes or Nolasco. Probably Nolasco. If you want to go with a RP go with Perez.

Konerko (Bautista to OF) and Hughes.
By the way, what catchers are available?
