Hey guys, could use some help, I'm really on the fence here. 12 team 6x6 keeper league (ops). Our keeper decisions are due tomorrow, and I've boiled down the decision to either Utley or Heyward for my final keeper slot. Normally, I'd go Utley, but I'm really concerned about his knee, and that's probably not going to get resolved between now and then. We have a three-year cap on keepers, this would be my second keep of Utley (so I'd get to keep him this year and next), and my first of Heyward, if I kept him. My team is set up to compete this year, and I'd like to give myself the best chance to win this year, which Utley will probably help me do. Then again, Heyward in three years will be a monster, and he'll probably be good for .280, 21hrs, 85rbis, 85 runs, 15sbs, and an .875 ops, which may not be as good as Utley if healthy (and at a less thin position), but is probably safer without the chronic knee condition.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, and WHIR.

I can see others going both ways.... Despite others, I am sticking with Utley. Though his performance is dependent on health, I see your successful season dependent upon him.
Very tough one. Heyward is a beast and as you say, may be somewhat safer than Chase from a health standpoint (though Heyward has had his own bumps and bruises over the years). Chase, however, could be back on the field tomorrow and you'll feel like an idiot for not having kept him. I'm assuming you'd have no chance to pick him back up in the draft. I'd think, given the risks involved, and the fact that long term too in a keeper, Heyward is the better value than a 33-year old second baseman, you're really making a good play to keep Heyward here. But that's just my two cents, and I know it's incredibly hard to let a player like Utley go.
Thanks for the help. I do love them both, but I would Go Heyward here. I can't say that I have substantial reason for not liking Utley, just think that Heyward is going to be REALLY Special!
This is a tough call, but my belief is ALWAYS try to win now. If you believe Utley gives you the best chance to do that, then that's who you need to keep. There will always be a high upside rookie or hot new sleeper available, go get them next year, but if you have a chance to win this year, keep the players who give you the best opportunity to do that.
Yeah, it's unfortunate that you need to to choose between the two. But you have to go with Utley here. At some point there's going to be another Jay-Hey coming down the line... you have to make your team the best one possible right now and Utley is a first round pick in most drafts.
Thanks for your help on mine. I think, gun to my head today, I go Heyward. Not sure when your draft is, where your pick is, or what the penalty for a keeper is, but keeping Utley right now would make me a bit nervous. He may come back healthy, or there may be more going on here than they want to admit. Heyward is no slouch himself. He had one of the best OBP last year so his discipline should help him avoid a sophomore slump. Depending on how scared other owners will be of his injury you may always be able to get him back... Just my thoughts...tough call.
