I have the first pick in a keeper league fully redrafting this season. Not sure who I should go with? I know Pujols is the #1 player in baseball he is 31 years old (maybe), but Tulo is only 26 and Hanley is 27.
My gut is telling me shortstop is the way to go with the depth at 1B, but I am a little worried about Hanley as my top player. His HRs,avg., and SBs have all gone down over the past few years. He also started getting tired at the end of last season. At 27(if he is) that worries me.
Tulo does have some injury concernes, but probably would have had 35+ homeruns last year if he did not miss time with a broken wrist.
It really feels like the obsession with rookies and minor leaguers is reaching critical mass this year. The season has already started and we're seeing people legitimately thinking about trading guys like Halladay and Hanley for prospects and future stars.
DRAFT TO WIN THIS YEAR.
Don't overthink it. Pujols is the best fantasy player in the game right now, and it's not really close.
I would go Pujols, BUT If you want to be wacky, DON'T let it be with Tulo. Tulo isn't even a top 20 pick for me--I just can't trust the history of injuries. Yeah he has the talent to be a top 10 pick, but I can't let my first (or 2nd round pick) be that big of a known question mark.
1). Pujols 1a). Hanley
No to Tulo.
