I drew the 1st pick in a standard, 12 team, 5 x 5 roto league. It is a yahoo league which is what is making this a difficult pick because I start C,1B,2B,3B,SS, 3 OF and only 1 UTIL. I know Pujols is the most consistant and best player to draft, but given scarcity issues and only so many places to get SB's from due to the shallow nature of the league, would it be wise to go with Hanley over Pujols? I feel comfortable going with a different 1B later in the draft who will get me 30HR 100RBI, thinking Konerko or someone similar. Any thoughts to this?

Hanley is a great player at a shallower position, but you go with the Pujols. He's the best player in the game, and is right at the top for R, HR, RBI, AVG and will net you 10-15 SB as well. He's simply dominant for one player, especially in 5x5.

I would also pick Pujols every time, but I would not ridicule you for taking Hanley. He is a close second because of position scarcity.

Pujols is your choice. Take the biggest bat available in the first 3 rounds regardless of position.

I'd be hard pressed to pass up Pujols if I had the number one pick.

Go with Pujols. SB is just one category. Don't let position scarcity make you overlook overall value. Pujols gives you more, in more categories, than any other hitter.

I would take Pujols. If this was a shallower league, say 10 teams, I might take the chance of drafting Hanley, hoping to get one of Howard/Fielder back. I don't see that happening in any case and getting say, a Pujols/Reyes combo in the first 3 rounds is still quite nice.
