Jiminez or Hamels - WHIR

Postby wkpdpack » Sun Feb 27, 2011 8:04 pm

I have to declare my keepers tomorrow in my standard keeper league, 5x5roto scoring. We keep 7 and I've got my 1st 6 (Braun, Wright, Kemp, Howard, Cliff Lee, Posey). It comes down to Jiminez or Hamels.

Jiminez - awesome 1st half last year, declined in 2nd half, pitches at Coors, ace of the staff, is he overused

Hamels - pitched great at end of season, pitches in hitter friendly park, 4th on the staff, doesn't pitch deep into games

Jiminez is consistently taken ahead of Hamels in draft and rankings but never by much. Is he truly my better pitcher to keep or do I go with Hamels who will consistently be pitching against 4th starters rather than aces? My other concern with Hamels is that I'll already have Cliff Lee and then my top two pitchers would be from the same team. Because of that do I go with Jiminez. I'm really struggling to decide between these two guys. I'm guessing I won't go wrong with either one unless one gets hurt. I have the 10th pick in the draft, but will more than likely take a hitter since I'll already have two starters on my roster.

Who's my last keeper?

i would def go with umbaldo. he has the higher upside. he kinda wore down last year but i belive that we saw the breakout from him. i believe that what he did in the first half is more what u should expect . thanks please help with my keeper situation

I think they're very close in value. Personally, I'll Hamels by a whisker for the ratios over a win or two, but that's just me.

I would go with Hamels. I trust him a lot more than Jiminez.

In my books it's not that close--I go with Cole Hamels. Very high on him this year, and expect him to be the 2nd best fantasy pitcher on the Phils. Watch out.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Same here...though I don't see Hamels > either Halladay or Lee. I do feel Hamels could be in for a really good season and had an under-the-radar very good 2010.

Do I draft Hamels here? viewtopic.php?t=422861

being the Phils #4 is not really that big of a deal. All that means is he is the #4 pitchers on this staff, but would be a #1 for about 20 other teams. After the first month of the season #1s pitcher against numbers 3-5s just as much as they go against the best pitchers.

I would go with Hamels.

2010 #s
Hamels
ERA W-L SO WHIP
3.06 12-11 211 1.18

Jimeniez
ERA W-L SO WHIP
2.88 19-8 214 1.15

Both are 27, but one got better during the season and one bombed in the second half.

WHIR?

Slight edge to Hamels for me.....less pressure on him now, with the big 3 ahead of him.

PLEASE HELP ME:
