Should I accept this trade?

Postby Conrax » Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:21 pm

This is for a 12 team H2H, 5x5 Cats, positions are little different you have C,1B,2B,3B,SS,OF then IF,CF,LF,RF then 5 SP and 2 RP with 11 Bench.

The trade is my Jason Werth RF,CF and Sean Rodriguez 2B,CF for Colby Rasmus CF and Brandon Webb SP

Here is my complete roster:
Batting:
C: Posada
1B: Billy Butler
2B: Ian Kinsler
3B: Ryan Zimmerman
SS: Jimmy Rollins
IF: A Rod 3B
LF: Carl Crawford
CF: Grady Sizemore
RF: Jason Werth RF,CF
OF: Jay Bruce RF
Adam LoRoche 1B
Derek Lee 1B
Jason Bay LF
Sean Rodriguez 2B,CF
Yunel Escobar SS
Peter Bourjos CF
Micheal Brantley CF
Kevin Kouzmanoff 3B

Pitching:
Max Scherzer
Ted Lily
Bronson Arroyo
Wade Davis
Randy Wolf
James McDonald SP
Jonathan Broxton
JJ Putz
Ryan Madison
Serigo Romo RP

Should I do this trade? I like Rasmus and there is some risk with taking Webb but I am willing to take it, and I would be losing two CFs. I have thought about trading a first baseman, but he has Prince Fielder and Justin Smoak. What should I do?

I agree with your thinking of trading for pitching, but doing so by acquiring Webb is not the way to do it. You can probably get a lot more for Werth straight up. I would try to do that.

Webb is a risky pick, as Kimbo said above. Is there a healthier SP you can acquire? I like Rasmus as someone who can really break out this year (nice power/speed combo)...trading Werth + ok guy you don't really need for Rasmus + upgrade at SP is a good idea though. IMO, Werth's numbers go down a little bit due to lesser lineup and Nationals Park (pitcher's park) not being Citizen's Bank (hitter's park).

The pitchers he will probably trade would be Garza, James Shields, Ricky Romeo, and Brian Matusz. Because I doubt he will trade Jimenez or Price and I don't want Johan Santana because of his injury. So any of these pitchers better then others? I am leaning Garza because now he is in the NL and will face better lineups compared to what he was facing in Tampa with the AL East.

He countered with Werth for Rasmus and Webb, is this a better deal? I feel like I am still taking a big risk with Webb.

Rasmus is a CF, correct? You need to make room for him, and that could mean parting with Sizemore. I like Garza or Matsuz in a return, both are solid and definitely less of a risk than Webb.

I wouldn't trade for Webb, too much risk, but I like you moving Werth for Rasmus. Can you get a better pitcher than Webb?

Please help?

I dont see Rasmus as an upgrade over Werth. They will probably have about the same HR and SBs, but unless Rasmus can put it together with both lefties and righties he could hurt your batting average more than werth.

Webb may be able to make it back this season, but he is going to be very limited and I am guessing will probably have to take a week off here and there and be on a very limited pitch count. He just missed two season with a shoulder injury and needs to be brought back slower. Very little upside for this season.

Single season league I would hold out for better. Keeper League I would do that trade for Rasmus with his future upside.

ok it seems like the only way he will do this trade now is this way:

I give up Jason Werth and Sean Rodiguez and I will get Colby Rasmus and James Shields.

I am getting a healthy pitcher, which I need and Colby Rasmus (who I like for the future) and giving up Werth which I don't feel will do well this season and Rodiguez that I really don't mind losing.

So do I accept or move on?
