I just lost Wainwright for the season. I was counting on him as my ace and without him, I doubt I can compete with top teams this season. I have been trying to land Volquez to semi-replace him in the short- (and possibly long-) term.

Original offer: Britton and Morel for Volquez
His counter: Britton and Kalish for Volquez
My counter: Britton, Kalish, Morel, Portillo & Nyjer for Volquez, Vitters and Betances
His counter: Britton, Kalish, Cowart for Volquez, Vitters, Grossman, Gillies
He then proposed either: A) Britton, Kalish, Morel, Portillo for Volquez, Vitters, Gillies or B) Britton, Kalish, Morel, my first (15th overall) for Lowe, Casey Crosby, Vitter, Gillies, his first rounder (3rd overall)

My last proposal: Britton, Kalish, Morel, Nyjer, Arencibia, my first rounder (15th overall) for Volquez, Vitters, Betances/C Crosby (his choice) and his first rounder (3rd overall). He said it may work, but that he'll look it over in the AM.

I am wondering if this is overpaying. I look at it this way:
Britton + Kalish = Volquez
Morel < Vitters
Nyjer + Arencibia = Betances/Crosby
My first < his first

I may be overvaluing Crosby or Betances, or even undervaluing Kalish, but that is how I brake it down. What are your thoughts? Am I losing the deal with my last proposal?

Why not do Britton + Kalish for Volquez?

He offered you that, and then later on you admitted that it was an equal value trade. So why not do that, instead of complicating it?

I agree. That looks fine to me.

Thanks for mine. I agree with razzy. No reason to complicate it.
