I am joining an auction league this year, the first auction league I've ever done. It is a keeper league, with whoever you keep going up in price by $4.
I am not keeping anybody from the previous team and am starting fresh, I believe each team has $375 to spend on about 25 players (15 hitters, 10 pitchers).
How should I attack this? I'm going into this pretty blindly, although I will certainly be doing my research in the coming weeks.

1. I spend (budget) 60% on hitting and 40% on pitching
2. I am a nerd, but I really believe in tiering every player and literally assigning a price to that player (at least do it with the top 100, I try to go 200). I go over it and over it until I have my budget set with about 10% "wiggle room" (In other words, I literally have my price sheet in front of me, but if I get caught in some "position scarcity" type situatuion then I want to be able to overpay to fill a need.
3. Savemoney until the end, so you can have 2 or 3 dollars. I almost guarantee you that 5 of the other managers will have to take their last 2,3,4 picks with only $1. So your $2 will be valuable.
Sorry to ramble, hope this helps

One important thing about an auction, is that I always nominate guys that I do not want to own early in the draft. Let other owners get cash-poor bidding on guys that you are trying to avoid.
