Keeper question

Postby TheRock » Sun Feb 13, 2011 1:49 pm

Here's a question while we're waiting. I value youse guys opinions over the random 'help' available in the Draft/Trade/Keeper forum.

So I have this other league, 14 teams mixed league. 6x6 with OPS and holds. Pretty simple keeper format, we keep 4 players every year. No inflation or budget or keeping track of rounds, etc. We all keep 4 then draft from there.

The addition of holds essentially makes all pitchers a little less valuable, no pitcher can help in more than 4 cats. But adding OPS makes BA count twice, well 3 times I guess. Power is where it's at, I tend to ignore steals.

I have 2 no-brainer keepers - Pujols and Votto. Undecided on the other 2. Possibles are:
Brian McCann
Jay Bruce
Nick Markakis
Alexei Ramirez
Dan Uggla
Zack Greinke

As mentioned, I'm really leaning away from Greinke because pitchers are limited. If I had to pick two today it would probably be Bruce and Uggla. What you guys think?

Bruce for sure. Then working from the bottom up I would eliminate Markakis (perennial heartbreaker) and Greinke (pitching is deep this year). The remaing three all play at very shallow positions so I guess it's a matter of preference. I like McCann for the across the board help in cats he will give you.

I would tend to lean with a Bruce/Uggla pkg. I think Uggla is poised to break out and surprise even more people in 2011....buit that is just me.... :*)

Bruce and McCann for me.

Uggla/Ramirez also possibilities depending on whether you value a top 5 C, a top 5 2B, or a top 5 SS more for this league.

I think everyone has it about right. Bruce and then one of the others! ;-)

Me: I think I'd go Uggla, but could be tempted by either Greinke or McCann.
