Constitution/Rules Feedback

Postby footcow » Fri Feb 11, 2011 2:20 pm

Hey guys, A few friends and I are starting a new league this year and we got together and made some rules and I put together a constitution. I was wondering if anyone could take a look at it and let me know what you think. Let me know if you have and suggestions for changes/improvements.

You can view it here:

P.S. I know this isn't the classified forum, but we do have spots open so let me know if you'd like to join.

skimmed over the rules pretty quick. most leagues have a trade deadline late in the season, makes for less trouble very late in the season. Might as well not have voting on deals if 6 of the other 8 are required to veto

I agree with fast dogs. You need a trade deadline, maybe the end of August and your veto trade number is too high. You are dealing with 8 uninvolved owners on a trade, if four veto, that should be enough. == One thing you should have also is an inseason salary cap, maybe $350. This will stop those uneven trades. == ESPN does not have the capability of keeping track of salary and contracts. I would suggest you either use CBS, which is a pay league or try FanTrax. I don't know anything about Fantrax, but have heard it keeps track of salaries and contracts and is free.

when doing a salary contract league...i disagree w an inseason salary cap. dumping big salaries is part of the game in a contract league...it should not be limited

getting under the cap for next year's draft will limit this on its own

Right That is why I do not have an in season salary cap. I'll also see about adding a trade deadline. I have the veto so high because we don't want trades to get vetoed unless there is collusion or something like that, but maybe I should lower it a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. Also, I haven't been able to find anyone online that wants to join the league. Do you think this is because it is only 10 teams and is sort of shallow, or because it has an entry fee, or something else? Maybe people just aren't looking for another league.

I would be open to adding more teams, but that means I have to find more too. We have 5 right now.

Also, what do you guys think about the restricted FA stuff? Are there other leagues that do this because I kind of came up with this on my own, but I would think that others would have tried it before.

Having only ten fantasy teams and having a player pool of both AL and NL is a very shallow league. Very few will put money on that because the knowledge to pick good players is not needed. They are all good. You might consider doing an AL or NL only league.
