creating a schedule???

Postby free » Thu Feb 10, 2011 8:32 pm

need help with creating a schedule for a 14team w/ 2 divisions (22 wk.) where division teams would play each other 3 times in addition to 4 randomly selected games outside of the division.

checked here: http://schedules.footballguys.com/ but they didn't have a format for that.

I can help with the schedule, but are you sure you want a 22 week regular season? There are only 24 in the entire Fantasy Season. I would suggest playing every team in your divison twice and the other division once. That would be 19 weeks and give you the remainder for your playoffs.

ESPN and CBS have only 24 weeks. What stat service are you using?

After thinking about it, there is a problem with having 14 teams. There are seven (an uneven number) in each division. That would mean every week at least one team will have to play outside of it's division. This makes it very hard for the schedule to come out. I will see what I can find, but you are not going to have the kind of schedule that you are hoping for. == If you wanted to expand your league to 16 teams, the schedule would be easy. You would four divisions of four teams. You would play your own division three times each and play the other three divisions once. That would be 21 weeks. You would have either three or four weeks for the playoffs depending on how your set it up.

well we just expanded to 14, so going to 16 would be a stretch. i was just trying to find a schedule that would help make have 2 divisions more meaningful :-?

I did find a schedule that might work for you. You would need to divide the 14 teams into three divisions. Two five team divisions and one four team division. The schedule comes out fairly even.

"Each team plays 12 divisional games and all remaining teams once. The 10 teams that are in the two 5-team divisions play one additional non-divisional opponent for a second time."

This would work good for your league. Go to this link and look at the very bottom of the page. It will show 14 teams, 22 weeks, 3 divisions.
