Another trade thought

Postby Surfs up » Wed Feb 09, 2011 5:41 pm

I'm working a couple of deals . One of them includes trying to get Felix. His owner said he will trade him to me but wants my first round pick ( 12 th overall ) and either Bautista or Nelson Cruz.
Felix can be kept for two more years. Bautista three and Cruz two years.
I would get a pick back. Not sure what yet but it would have to be a good one. We have to all have 19 picks.
I just picked up Wainwright . My other keepers are Albert, Hanley, Utley, Miggy and one of Bautista or Cruz. I'm trying to trade one or the other. I can't keep both.
Tulo, Braun, Hamilton, Kemp, Tex , Arod, Lincecum, Lester and Verlander are the top picks with BJUpton, Billingsley and Pence rounding out the top 12.I would have four very good hitters and two top pitchers going into the draft. I also have the third overall pick so one of either of the top hitters would be mine.Leaning toward doing it since it esentually comes down to Bautista and Pene or Upton for Felix and a pick. Thoughts?

Yeah, since you can't keep Cruz and Bautista it's really like trading your first pick for Felix. Definite. ;-D

I can keep either Bautista or Cruz. I can't keep both. So basically it comes down to one of them plus somebody like Upton , Pence or Victorino which would be the players availbe with that pick 12 overall in the first round.
Follow that?

Got word back from the Felix owner. He doesn't want either Bautista or Cruz for Felix. He wants my 12 th overall pick only. But he has yet to say what pick I will get back. He has to give one back. We all need 19 picks at the draft. He does not have his 5th and 8th round picks.
Then I would still have both Cruz and Bautista. I doubt I can trade them. I would hate to just throw them back.
There are a couple of GM's that can use them but its hard to get them to even return an email. I trade offer would almost be impossible.

I'd still take that deal. Doesn't really matter what pick you get back either.

I have the owner of Morneau thinking about a two for one. Bautista and Cruz.
I realize Morneau is a health risk but he could be a great deal as well. Then if i do the Felix deal I'll have a problem on who to keep.I may just pass on the Felix deal if a Morneau deal goes through. I could take Lincecum with my first pick. ( 3rd overall ) or take a hitter and hope Verlander or Lester is still there at # 12. I should know today.

I just got a note from the Morneau owner. He wants to make the trade.
Think I should do it? It could be huge for me. I can't keep both guys if I make the Felix trade.
Now I'm not sure what to do.

I wouldn't trade for Morneau if you've already got Pujols + Cabrera.

Do the Felix trade. Keep Cruz. Draft Arod. After your first pick you've got:

Wainwright
Felix

Pujols (1B)
Utley(2B)
Hanley(SS)
Arod(3B)
Cruz(OF)
Cabrera(U)

That's sick. Pick up some OF on your next picks, and there are plenty of awesome SP guys left to take.

This does look good. I would rather have Felix than Morneau anyway.

Thanks for the help but I wouldn't be able to keep both Cruz and Felix after a trade. That would give me seven keepers. If I do the Felix trade both Bautista and Cruz have to go.
And they way our league does NOT like to trade it pretty much means I have to drop both.
So my keepers would be
Pujlos
Miggy who is in his last year
Hanley
Utley
Wainwright
Felix
Dropping both Cruz and Bautista

If I did't do either trade who would you keep between Bautista and Cruz?
I would still have my 12th overall pick and could end up with Lester, Billingsley or Verlander.
Its also possible Braun is still there when I pick 3 overall. Would you take a gamble with Hamilton or Kemp if both Tulo and Braun are gone?
Thanks for thehelp guys. Time is winding down to roster freeze. I need to do something in two weeks with my six keepers. And my draft picks hinge on who I keep.
