3 Keepers needed...WHIR!

Postby hanny2042 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 4:17 pm

I have to narrow this list to 3 keepers. The league is a standard, auction, 5x5 roto, 12 team league, with minors. The list has the player and what his new salary would be. The auction is $260 total.

Albert Pujols 42
Jaime Garcia 4
Felix Hernandez 29
Cliff Lee 20
Johan Santana 20
Justin Verlander 25
Aroldis Chapman 7
Max Scherzer 6

MINORS (we keep all):
Yonder Alsono
Martin Perez
Julio Teheran
Zach Britton
Aaron Crow

I honestly had that bad of hitting last season that I really have no good options there. My initial instincts are Pujols, Felix, and Lee...but is that too obvious? Would I be better off going with one of the other, cheapter SPs?

Thanks in advance!!!

Scherzer and Garcia are your best values. No way either of them goes for that price in the draft. I have some worries about Garcia going into his second year.

I think I would keep Pujols which is an ok price but not great. Still the best player in the league and not over-priced which is a good thing.

So my keepers would be

A lot also depends on the league and how they value pitching. Felix is not much of a bargain and neither is Verlander or Lee.

I would go with Pujols, Lee, and Scherzer. Pujols is too good to let go and isn't overpriced. Lee is likely going to go in the upper $20s so that's a $7-8 value, and Scherzer will likely be in the mid teens, so you're looking at about another $7-8 value there. Felix is another good option, but I think he's worth somewhere in the $30 range, so that's not much of a value.

I think your instincts are right on. Scherzer is worth more than what hes at, but i dont think you are getting lee or felix back at those values either.

I would go Albert, King Felix, and Garcia (if you want a little more certainty go with Scherzer)

I'd go with Pujols, Lee and Scherzer. I love Felix, but I think the $9 difference with Lee is enough to sway me.
