There was a recent report that was confirmed by the Texas Rangers front office that Michael Young has requested a trade.
Let's make something very clear, there have been very few players that have meant as much or more to the Texas Rangers than Michael Young. He has done everything that the organization has asked him to do; move to SS and move to 3B. He's about to move out of the 3B role after the Adrian Beltre, and Young was more than accepting to take on a role as a DH. Fair. Then, they deal for Mike Napoli to be their DH, when in fact he should be their catcher because, Napoli hasn't earned it yet with the Rangers to dictate where he should play. And who's the one that gets slighted, Michael Young.
It is absolutely astounding how many times the Rangers have shot themselves in the foot with the moves that they have made this off-season, but with the way they have treated Michael Young, for what he has done for them, and how he has performed for them, through thick and thin, this is just mind-boggling. Young has every reason to be fuming and should request a trade. The Rangers, right now, do not deserve to have Michael Young on their roster.
Young has not been more than accepting of any of his positional moves. He moved because he wasn't given a choice. And he's been a long-time Ranger but you're overrating him. His stats are inflated by hitter friendly Arlington (.743 career road OPS). About the only thing that he can be upset about is that the Rangers said they weren't trying to trade him and they have continued trade talks. But that's life and he's still going to get paid 48M (way overpaid).

Yes, that was his original position until the Rangers forced him to move to SS for Ian Kinsler. Then he was forced to move to 3b for Elvis Andrus. Now he is forced to move to DH for Adrian Beltre. Can you really blame the guy for being frustrated?
Not sure if this is off topic or not, but I think a Michael Young trade would boost Kinsler and Andrus value. Young hits in the 2-hole and Ron Washington has said that he might put Kinsler back in the leadoff spot and move andrus down the order. With Young gone, that will allow the Rangers to keep Andrus in the leadoff spot (going back to the 9-hole would murder his value) and Kinsler can jump into the number 2 spot where Young has most been locked in. I think the Young trade for the rangers is a good move because it allows them to put their best hitters where they should be in the lineup and where they fit best. Having Young in the number 2/3 spot never made sense to me, he isn't that great of a hitter.
