Which 8 To Keep? (WHIR)

Postby hockeytownjoe » Mon Feb 07, 2011 9:05 pm

10 team H2H, 6x6 (OBP, HLD are extra)

We keep 8.

My Team:

C Buster Posey
1B Joey Votto
2B Kelly Johnson
3B Ryan Zimmerman
SS Derek Jeter
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Matt Kemp
OF Shane Victorino
Util Vladimir Guerrero
Util Mike Stanton
Bench Adam LaRoche
Bench Delmon Young

SP Jon Lester
SP Josh Johnson
SP Yovani Gallardo
RP Bobby Jenks
RP Mariano Rivera
P Daniel Bard
P Johnny Venters
P Dan Haren
Bench Brett Anderson
Bench Tim Hudson
Bench Ian Kennedy

I'm pretty certain that Posey, Votto, CarGo, Kemp, Zimmerman, Lester and JJ are definitely being kept which leaves me one spot left. The only ones I'm really considering (on my own short list) are Anderson, Stanton, Young and Gallardo. I think it's time to throw Haren back into the pool.

Thoughts? WHIR.

I actually like Victorino and Vlad... or maybe even Rivera. Of the guys you listed, I would probably go with Young. Given your options, I like knowing what I'm getting from a final pick, and given the production of Victorino for example, I think it is more likely he will be more valuable than Stanton than the other way around... even i the pick isnt as "interesting".
Please help with mine...

I'd narrow the last keeper between Stanton and Gallardo. Perhaps Gallardo is the safer bet to produce well and I suppose I'm a believer in Stanton's power. Can't fault you going either way.

I would take Gallardo easily here. He is a top SP without question and will go much earlier than Stanton in any draft for a reason. I like Stanton as much as the next guy but you can't take him over a guy like Gallardo no matter how much you prefer to keep hitting over pitching.
