Who to Keep (Posey, Kemp, or Morneau)- WHIR

Postby stickkeys108 » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:33 pm

I'm in a Yahoo, 10 team, roto, very competitive, 4-keeper league.

You can keep two hitters and two pitchers.

I won the league last year so I'll be picking at the turn.

As far as pitchers go, I've already decided I'm keeping Cliff Lee (22nd Round) and probably Justin Verlander (12th). The only other option is Dan Haren (9th) and as much as I love him I still think Verlander has the better value.

On to the hitters.

I'm definitely keeping Carlos Gonzalez (18th) but I can't decide between Buster Posey (21st), Justin Morneau (also 21st), or Matt Kemp (11th).

Part of me wants to lean towards Posey b/c it's a top tier catcher at that late round. But then I see Kemp and know that he could go first overall in our draft if I don't keep him.

I love Morneau, but his injuries concern me every year, and I could take a comparable 1B at the turn. The 1B's available in the draft are Teixeira, Fielder, Morneau, Morales. Then it falls off to Dunn, Konerko, Butler, Carlos Lee, Derek Lee, Pena, LaRoche, etc.

What say you?

How did Kemp fall out of the top 100 last year following that huge '09 season? Almost everyone you've listed with rounds doesn't make alot of sense to me but thats not the question here. Morneau you just can't take ahead of those 2. Either would be great in those rounds; depending how many OF & catchers you start might be the final decision

They're holdover keepers from two and three years ago.

We start 1 C, 3 OF, and 2 UT.

For me, I would keep Kemp. You wouldn't sniff Kemp in the draft, while you have a shot to get Posey back.

Help me?

I'd go with Kemp. Posey and Morneau are both at excellent values, but Kemp is also a good value and I'd say last year was an aberration.

morneau isnt in the conversation. Id stick with posey over kemp as ive always found locking in the tough positions to be invaluable.

easy choice for me

Posey

Morneau is too much of a health risk

Kemp is a strike out machine and a bit overrated..and streaky

I'll take Kemp. New management should help him get back to his old self.

You have the other two in nice spots but I think you have to keep Kemp.
