Is This Trade Fair? whir

Postby GaborikNYR » Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:15 pm

I'm in a 5x5 roto keeper league.

I was offered the following:

I get Haren, Ellsbury, Lind and M. Montero

I give Kemp and Grienke

I do need 1B and C (Lind qualifies at 1B), I could also use Ellsbury's speed, as I have a lot of big bats in my line up. Without looking at the rest of my roster, what do you think?

Just looking at the trade, I think you are giving up way too much. Greinke can be an Ace. Didn't show it last year but now he is going to the NL for a team that can contend. I wouldn't bail on him just yet. Kemp also had a disappointing year but with new management and another year under his belt, he could easily become a top 5 OF.

Haren is not going to get any better. He has had enough problems for the past few years and now pitching in the AL won't help him. Ellsbury is the one bright spot, he has a lot of talent and can easily be a top OF. Lind is likely to be better than last year but I don't think he will become the player he was in 09. Plus he plays a deep position at 1B which takes away a lot of the value he did have. Montero is a servicable C but nothing you couldn't replace off the WW.

The best player in the deal is Kemp. You're arguably giving away the second best player in the deal as well.

Giving away the best players in a deal is usually not a recipe for success.

Giving up too much. Greinke and Kemp should have good bounce back years.

might be fair in a 24 or 30 teamer. anything smaller and you are giving up to much star power

Ya along with this, you might want to post the league specifics, and what the rest of your team/keepers looks like.
