I also have a couple problems with which stat category to use. My current set up is Yahoo's default 5x5: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP).

My main concern is I had managers pitcher streaming. Is there any way to prevent this, like add another stat category?

The other concern is alot of the players that are getting intentionally walked, or HPB, or even BB. Is there any way to help this out? Like add another stat, that way I can make it a 6x6 league? Or is there another option?

Im still new to this so all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I would recommend using OPS for batters because it encompasses a hitters true skills, both power and getting on base.

For pitching I like Holds or Quality Starts. Holds makes it so that middle relievers are valuable. While QS help starting pitchers, it especially helps the pitchers on bad teams that pitch well because while they may not get the win, they still get credit for the QS. Holds are fun but seem more random than Saves so it is kind of a goose chase.

One Idea is to drop wins and add both of these categories.

Or, you could add QS and do one category for Holds+saves.

I dont think Yahoo has this option to do one category for Holds+saves.

If Yahoo has an option for "Max pitcher starts per Matchup", that is the way to stop streaming. Ten is a good number. If Yahoo doesn't have it, ESPN does.

My league has a maximum of 50 free agent/waiver pickups for the year. That pretty much kills streaming. You can load up on spot starts if your pitching stats are close at the end of the week, but then you'll have that many less pickups down the road, so you have to weigh the cost and benefit.

In Head-to-Head leagues, I like to make sure there are a fair number of categories that can be won by a "hot" player. These are categories that can be won by scoring five to eight "units" (home runs, saves, steals, holds, wins/quality starts, etc..). The Head-to-Head format is the perfect format to replicate the impact of a "hot" player.
