ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas reports that the Orioles and Vladimir Guerrero have agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal. The Orioles finally caved in. Just a week ago they reportedly were willing to stand firm at $4.5-5 million, but they've decided to give in to Vlad's demands even though they had appeared to be his only real pursuer. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says a "significant" portion of the money will be deferred. Ultimately, it's not a bad price to pay for a guy that hit .300/.345/.496 with 29 home runs and 115 RBI this past season. His addition strengthens the middle of what suddenly is a legitimate lineup. Felix Pie figures to lose the most playing time as a result of the move, while Luke Scott will shift from DH to left field. Feb. 4 - 6:10 pm et
I wasn't ever particularly worried that he wouldn't sign, but I guess this really solidifies him as a top 100 pick easily with top 40 potential. Only having utility eligibility hurts, but now that Yahoo has 2 UTIL spot, I'm not going to downgrade him too much.
I don't see why he won't go 80/25/100 with a .280 BA and his upside is even better than that. I'm thinking around pick 75, he starts to get interesting.
he is but outside of yahoo, i don't think he's eligible. i think espn requires 20 games or something, not sure about cbs sportsline.
either way, i don't think he puts up those numbers again. that lineup in texas was loaded. 1 positive is that he'll play half of his games at camden yards.
I don't want to compare Baltimore to Texas but you have to figure Vlad will find himself in the middle of a Roberts/Markakis/Jones/Reynolds/Lee group. Again, not Texas but you could do a lot worse than that lineup.

Exactly, which is why I don't think it is presumptuous to project him for something like 85% of his production from a year ago with some additional upside. That's a very productive utility player. I was pretty sure that in the mocks I've done at mockdraftcentral (not spamming, just stating fact), Vlad was UTIL only. I've done a couple Yahoo style mocks and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed. Can anyone confirm his eligibility on Yahoo? Isn't it something like 5 games started or 10 games played at any position?
Is it possible that he didn't meet the OF eligibility requirement?
