A) Would you trade Freeman, Arrieta and Mejia for Choo?
I would hate to give up Freeman, but I have Dunn who is a monster and Laporta should break out this year or I would move in another direction at first. I don't currently have a RF; this fills a need and essentially swaps Arrieta for Choo as a keeper. (Alternative is to swap Hicks for Freeman if you think that is a better option, or anchor something around LaPorta)
B) I am fifth up in the first round of the prospect draft. Of the best available prospects, my rankings are: John Lamb KC LHP Alex White CLE RHP Anthony Rizzo SD 1B AJ Cole WAS RHP Drew Pomeranz CLE LHP Nolan Arenado COL 3B Deck McGuire TOR RHP Bryce Brentz BOS OF Zack Cox STL 3B Max Ramirez TEX C Chad James FLA LHP Nick Castellanos DET 3B Trey McNutt CHC RHP Jerry Sands LAD OF Alex Liddi SEA 3B Tsuyoshi Nishioka MIN SS Christian Colon KC SS Anthony Ranaudo BOS RHP Jason Kipnis CLE 2B Liam Hendricks MIN RHP Billy Hamilton CIN SS Edward Salcedo ATL SS Antonio Bastardo PHI LHP Jose Ruiz TB 1B
Could you rank your top 5? My personal favorites have to be Lamb, White, Cox, Pomeranz and Salcedo. In fact, really like Salcedo...perhaps McNutt. Also, Sands and Colon.
WILL ALWAYS HELP IN RETURN! Thanks in advance!

B. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the deep prospects to give you a good answer. I do know that the Rangers removed Max Ramirez from their 40 man roster, and he was claimed by the Red Sox. The Red Sox placed him on waivers and he was claimed by the Cubs. I don't think I'd waste a pick on him.
I like Lamb, white, Pomeranz, Kipnis followed by your favorite 2010 draftee (other than Pomeranz). McGuire, Ranaudo, Colon and Castellanos top my list.

Those are the top three I like of the prospects. Any chance Zach Lee, Josh Sale or Jonothan Singleton is available?
I would do that trade for Choo as well.

I would absolutely do that deal. I am not a big fan of Shin-soo Choo to be honest, but like you stated, you need a RF. Also, I am not big on Freeman at all, right now he looks like a James Loney type player in the major. I think he is at least 2-3 years away from being fantasy relevant. Pull the trigger.
Definitely pull the trigger for Choo...kind of surprised the other owner is willing to let him go at that price.
I would put Lamb and Pomeranz at the top of that list of prospects. One to watch further down that list is Ranaudo, if he stays healthy he will move through the minors quickly. I know you said list your top 5, but I don't know much about the other names on the list so I won't talk out of my ass about guys I have never seen play.
Let me know what you think I should do with my last keeper when you get a chance... viewtopic.php?t=421443

Of those listed, only Lee is available. But it looks like I could target him next round.
If you can get Lee next round that would be great. I would have him ranked 4th on this list. Could be the best SP in that draft.
Not a real fan of White, have read that he projects more as a reliever but I don't remember where I read that. Rizzo is interesting. Needs some more time and now will hit in a bad park but I still think he could be a good player. Zach Cox is another guy I am interested in him but I think he has somethings to work out before I totally buy in. Colon reminds me a lot of Polanco, which is good but probably not what you are looking for in the first round. Sands has gotten mixed reviews. Some think he has the power and others think he has too many holes. I think I agree more with the former. Kipins has a lot to like. Another solid major league player at a touch position. Hamilton is another solid major league player. Lots of speed but again not someone I would want with a first pick.
Not real sure about the other guys. Either I don't now much about them or more likely I don't think much of them.

So I ended up making the trade for Choo and then took Rizzo in the first round. Way I look at it, I add a potential Freeman-type bat that could be moved if need be. He should have a clear path to the majors with AGonz out of town.
This draft has been very, very interesting in there have been very few picks I did not like. First round just completed with these results: 1. Texas - Bryce Harper (RF WAS) 2. Washington (formerly Detroit) - Manny Machado (SS BAL) 3. Kansas City (formerly Cleveland) - Michael Pineda (SP SEA) 4. Tampa Bay - Brandon Belt (1B SF) 5. Oakland - Jameson Taillon (SP PIT) 6. Arizona - Gary Sanchez (C NYY) 7. LA (NL) - Jonathan Singleton (1B/LF PHI) 8. Detroit (previously MIL) - Nick Franklin (SS SEA) 9. Houston - Jean Segura (2B/SS LAA) 10. NY (AL) - Manny Banuelos (SP NYY) 11. San Diego - Delino Deshields (CF HOU) 12. Seattle (formerly NY NL) - Chris Archer (SP TB) 13. Baltimore - Jerry Sands (OF LAD) 14. Toronto - Brett Jackson (OF CHC) 15. Atlanta - Anthony Rizzo (1B SD) 16. Florida - John Lamb (SP KC) 17. St. Louis Cardinals - Zach Cox (3B STL) 18. Los Angeles Angels - Drew Pomeranz (SP CLE) 19. Boston Red Sox - Jason Kipnis (2B CLE) 20. Pittsburgh Pirates - Josh Sale (OF TB)
I did take Rizzo over Lamb, but I just don't know about Lamb and I felt it was safer to go with a hitting prospect first round than a pitching prospect.
Lee will be on the radar next round, for sure.
