At his current price he's a guy I'd like to own in deeper leagues, especially those using 5 OF's and a CI spot. Could prove a versatile, "swing," type player if you opt to gamble on a boom or bust player in the OF or at CI. New Busch isn't the kindest home ballpark according to Bill James park indices in terms of allowing homeruns, though it's much less forgiving on RHB, so considering the bulk of Berkman's PA's will come as a lefty shouldn't hurt him too terribly.
I agree that he can be valuable piece of a fantasy team this year, especially in deeper leagues. Just don't expect 140 games played this year. Think 120 games, 500 AB. With his injury / health, I don't see him physcially holding up playing full time OF. I think Diaz will get the ABs against LHP. Berkman will spell Pujols get 10 starts at 1b.

Albert played 159 games last year, 160 the year before, and 148 the year before when he was hurt. I doubt that Berkman gets 10 starts at 1B.
Maybe he'll get 10 appearances there, but even then, I wouldn't expect that to happen until after the ASB at the very earliest. Pujols doesn't sit.

Unless of course I am going to my first Major League Baseball game in St. Louis (I live in Central New York and was on a road trip). In which case he'll get his first day off in over a year (April 29, 2010 again the Braves).
