_______________
quick question on this.
is the only place i can switch up search engines, via the wrench thingee?
I used to keep baseball reference as my primary search engine, so i could search any player with a right click. But there was a drop down menu so i could switch between many search engines ...
am i just missing it for chrome or do i have to go into the tools each time.
i use my search engines, a lot.

again thanks.

Chrome should be adding any website you search from automatically. To manually add or edit them yourself:

1) Click on the Wrench
2) Options
3) Basic Tab
4) In the bottom half of the popup you'll see "Default Search:" to the right of that there's a button for "Manage". Click on that.
4A) Under "Other Search Engines" you'll see a list of websites you've searched on.
4B) Baseball-Reference should be there if you've searched on it in Chrome. Click on it. (Or click Add if it isn't there.)
4C) Click Edit
4D) There are 3 inputs: (1) Name, (2) Keyword, and (3) URL
---(1) Name it whatever you want.
---(2) Keyword is what you type into the address bar to prompt the search. Chrome recognizes URLs quickly so I have my keywords set to the main site URL (e.g., baseball-reference.com). So with Baseball-Reference.com displayed in the address bar if you hit Enter it will take you to the site...if you hit Tab, it will allow you to search the site from the address bar.
---(3) The URL is what it uses to perform the search. The easiest way to add new sites is to perform a search on the website
Code: Select all
http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl/player_search.cgi?search=pujols
Then copy the URL and change the search term to "%s". Paste it into the URL input.
Code: Select all
http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl/player_search.cgi?search=%s

But like I said, it should be adding them automatically each time you perform a search on a certain website. But you can still go through those steps to edit the keywords and whatnot. So I have 20+ websites I can search from the address bar at any time.

Good catch.

This helps with that too: Click&Clean

I've also had problems with it crashing though not often. And Chrome does seem faster.

The thing I want to do is get rid of the bookmark bar but still have the bookmark dropdown menu. I guess I can just open the bookmark manager in a new tab but it would be better if I could have the dropdown next to the igcognito wrench...

Alt + V / Toolbars should give you the toolbar view options.
