Youky for Tex? WHIR

Postby Hawkeye1 » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:18 pm

I'm in a 15 team keeper roto league. Positions are: 2 Cs, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, 5 OFs, Util. and 9 Ps (any combo of SPs and RPs). We also have 9 bench slots. Categories are: Doubles + Triples, HRs, KOs, OBP, Runs, RBI - HRs, SB - Caught stealing, SLG, ERA, Ks, CGs, Holds, HRs Allowed, Net Saves, Ws - Ls and WHIP. You must sacrifice the draft slot you selected your keeper with which I've indicated after all of my potentials. Teixiera would be a 2nd rounder. In addition, Tex's current owner would be giving me 3rd and 7th round picks for my 14th and 23rd rounders.

Carlos Santana – C - 17
Kevin Youkilis – 1B - 16
A-Rod – 3B - 1
Neil Walker – 2B - 10
Adam Dunn – 1B - 3
Aubrey Huff – 1B/OF - 17
Angel Pagan – OF - 31
Carlos Quentin – OF - 20
Domonic Brown – OF - 30
Chad Billingsley – SP - 10
Madison Bumgarner – SP - 10
Cliff Lee – SP - 29
John Danks – SP - 13

Thanks for the response bro. We get to keep 8 guys. Everyone drafted in the first 5 rounds is not eligible to be kept. It has been a league that has been in existence for some time now.

I would not make this trade. I am not too high on Teix even though he will give you solid production and good power. I like Youk because he will be 3B eligible and he will give you better average, OBP and may score more runs being in the lineup he is in. Your choice ultimately, but unless you can move up in a given position I dont make the trade.

I think I would do the trade. I like Youk also but I think the draft picks you are getting makes the difference.

Youk in an OBP league with a 16th round price tag is gold. I'd keep on to him, unless you know how the draft may shape up.
What kind of caliber player do you think would be available in this third round?

Youk is a 16th rounder and Cliff Lee is a 29th? I'd rather have Youk and your 2nd round pick than Teix & a 3rd if there is anything good at all available in the 2nd

Yes, stick with Youklis. He's a steal at that draft position, basically makes him a keeper for life.
