Really?! Are you aware that ARod has had exactly 2 40+ HR seasons in the last 7 years? His HR numbers have declined over the past 4 seasons, and not in favor of better contact, his batting average has also dropped over 30 points in that span.
What is harder to find:
.275 AVG ... 30 HRs ... 100+ RBI ... 75 Rs from a 3B (Longoria, Zimmerman, ARam, Wright, Beltre, McGehee are all capable of a similar line)
.280 AVG ... 15 HRs ... 65 RBI ... 110 Rs ... 60 SBs from a SS (Hanley, Rollins, Tulo and that's pretty much it and none of those guys will touch 60 SBs)
I'd still rather have ARod in this spot because of Reyes recent injury issues, but keep in mind ARod hasn't seen 600 ABs since 2005. No way does ARod see 50 HRs again (that's some serious Yankee fan diarrhea).
This line of reasoning (thought I am more optimistic regarding ARod) is why I am even considering this trade.
But thanks, everybody, for the feedback. I'll be rejecting.
