Best Young SP...WHIR

Postby Wadderboiz » Mon Jan 31, 2011 9:46 am

I'm contemplating keeping 1 of 4, who will have the best 2011 season:

Daniel Hudson
Jhoulys Chacin
Travis Wood
Mike Minor

Also are any of these worth keeping over:

R. Franklin
J. Axford

8 Team NL only league, and saves are scarce.

That's a really tough call for me between Hudson, Minor, and Chacin. IMO there is no clear front-runner for 2011 value. If I had to rank them it would go:

1. Hudson
2. Chacin
3. Minor

Wood is on the outside looking in for me because of his fly ball profile and homer-friendly ball park.

If you need Saves I think Axford is a decent option for 2011 - there really isn't all that much competition in that pen for him. Having said that I don't like any closer with a BB/9 > 4.....I wouldn't roster Ryan Franklin even if I could win the bid at -$1 in the auction.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

I like Hudson or Chacin. Hudson is a flyball pitcher in a hitter park which could turn ugly. I heard a rumor somewhere that Arizona might start using a humidor similar to what they do in Colorado which could really help him. i think you would be fine with either one but if i had to choose I would take Hudson.

I think it comes down to Hudson or Chacin. I was a bigger fan of Chacin last year over Hudson, but the later proved me wrong when he moved to the NL.

I would probably rank them as follows,

Hudson
Chacin

Minor
Wood
