12 team h2h points style league. 2 weeks of potential trading until dropping down to 10. So far I'm holding:
Martinez, Victor Cuddyer, Michael Phillips, Brandon Wright, David Choo, Shin-Soo Rios, Alex Young, Delmon
Billingsley, Chad Carpenter, Chris Gallardo, Yovani Volquez, Edinson Weaver, Jered
I also have Brett Anderson, Andrus, and Hosmer as 1 year minors and Jennings, Mike Montgomery, and Jacob Turner as 2 year minors. As you can tell, I desperately need a 1B, and another guy in our league who doesn't have enough good keepers is willing to trade Cabrera (or Sabathia) for a package. His current 12 are:
Adrian Gonzalez Kelly Johnson Adrian Beltre Miguel Cabrera Jacoby Ellsbury Adam Lind Drew Stubbs Carlos Pena Jonathan Broxton Brandon Morrow Jonathan Papelbon CC Sabathia
with Lars Anderson, Josh Vitters, and Dan Bard as 1 year minors and Montero, Arrieta, and Jaime Garcia as 2 years.
I'm guessing to get the deal done, I'm going to have to part with Wright. Would a package of Wright, Carpenter, and Delmon for Cabrera and Beltre be sufficient? Those three were 3 definite keepers when I drop to 10 (I planned on dropping Volquez and Cuddyer), but to get a stud like Cabrera to solve the 1B problem would be nice, even for the drop off to Beltre. Would I need to sub out another OF for Delmon? I'm open to dealing Rios but I want to try my best to hold onto Choo.
I'd throw that trade out there and see what happens. I do think its in your favor a little, but at least you'll find out what he needs to get a deal done for Cabrera.
Update . . . someone offered me Votto and Viciedo (1 year minors) for Choo and Anderson. I should accept immediately, yes? I tried the original deal with the other guy and it was rejected.
I think this is an ok deal for you. Not great though. Choo is a top OF and Anderson is on his way to be a top 20 SP. You are getting the best player in the deal but that is all you are really getting. Viciedo is unlikely to become much of a big league hitter and right now there is not much room for him either. Saying all that you are giving up a decent amount of talent for a 1B that has only done this once.

It owuld be nice if you had a beastly OF, but you can keep Choo and Rios and while they don't put out eye popping status, they are solid cross-cat contributors, you HAVE to do that deal proposed to you...
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
I think you have to do the updated deal, for Votto. However the previous one, I would target Gonzalez over M-Cab, he might not cost as much, but is in a very fine spot for 2011 with the Red Sox.
