Hello everyone. I struggled last year in my keeper league, and I need some advice. It is a 16 team league, with 5 keepers and no restrictions (loss of draft picks, etc.) on those keepers. I'll tell you who I think I'm gonna keep, but I'd like to here some other opinions. Here's my team (a star next to my picks for keepers):
Jason Bay Michael Cuddyer Bill Hall Derek Jeter* Garrett Jones Jason Kendall Carlos Lee Felipe Lopez David Murphy Jorge Posada Pablo Sandoval Will Venable Chris B. Young*
Sean Burnett Aroldis Chapman* Brian Duensing Brian Fuentes Jeanmar Gomez Daniel Hudson Jair Jurrjens Brandon League Fernando Rodney C.C. Sabathia* Jered Weaver*
The league has a really weird set of scoring categories. We go head-to-head (weekly), we have four divisions of four teams each, and here are the categories:
Batters Stat Categories: Hits (H), Triples (3B), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Walks (BB), Total Bases (TB), Fielding Percentage (FPCT), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Saves (SV), Earned Runs (ER), Strikeouts (K), Batters Grounded Into Double Plays (GIDP), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Relief Appearances (RAPP), Quality Starts (QS)
The big ones to notice are "Total bases" for hitters, and "Quality starts" for pitchers--really helps out doubles-power guys and pitchers on bad teams (i.e. Jered Weaver last year).
I'd probably keep Sandoval over Jeter and hope for a bounce back year. 3B is so scarce, it's worth the reward. My only other hesitation is Chapman, since nobody knows what the Reds are going to do with the kid, but I'm not sure I see a definite replacement.

I agree with most of this except I would think about keeping Pablo over Chapman but for the same reasons stated above. Not sure when you have to have your keepers set by but if you can wait it out to see if Chapman is a SP or RP it would help. If he gets a SP job then I would be ok with you keeping what you have selected or switching Pablo for Jeter. If he is a RP then keep Pablo instead.

Anybody else have any input on this? I'm starting to think I'm crazy not keeping Jeter, cause he's a top 5 SS even in his bad years. And if Chapman is the next Randy Johnson I'd be insane not to keep him. But Sandoval's in a much shallower position, and if his career rebounds he might be more valuable!!!!
Should I not keep Chris B. Young? I know he's awesome, but he's in the deepest position and I can find other OFs almost as good later on in the draft.
Ok, so now there's a new piece thrown in to the mix:
I'm not crazy about my choices here, so I traded one keeper slot to another team for their first non-keeper draft pick. So I can now only keepr 4 players out of the main six guys here:
Jeter Chris B. Young Sandoval
Sabathia Jered Weaver Aroldis Chapman
I'm thinking Jeter, Sandoval, Sabathia, and Weaver. Am I crazy not to keep Chapman??????
