hmm, me likey!
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Jeff Mathis will not be the guaranteed full-time catcher this year, according to the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna. C's Hank Conger and Bobby Wilson are fighting for playing time behind Mathis.
"There's going to be competition for not only roster spots but playing time, and Hank is in the middle of that," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He showed in September he is really advanced as far as what a catcher needs to do in calling and running a game." However, Conger remains a long shot due to his inexperience

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim may use a third-base-by-committee approach this season, consisting of 3Bs Maicer Izturis, Alberto Callaspo and Brandon Wood, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register

A few updates to the position battles

Beachy expected to be named the 5th starter in Atlanta - Minor to AAA

Baker wins the 5th spot in MN - Slowey to the bullpen

Cueto could open the season on the DL - Wood, Leake and Bailey expected to all be in the rotation IIRC

So many closer situations but there is a thread for that

One of particular interest is Washington where Storen has stuggled until his last outing prompting speculation that he could start in AAA. Burnett would be the leading candidate then to start the season at closer

A couple 2B battles:

NYM: It's still up in the air. Rumors are Collins likes Luis Hernandez, which would mean NYM 2B was unusable in most leagues. Brad Emaus and Daniel Murphy are still in the running as well.

CHC: Blake Dewitt has been struggling, and there are rumors that he could get optioned to AAA with the starting job given to Jeff Baker. Baker's usable against lefties, and could approach 15 HR if he plays all year. Darwin Barney will be the utility infielder and could also pilfer the 2B position
