Wow... could Toronto really turn Vernon Wells albatross contract into a decent closer? And Texas finally getting their everyday catcher, finding a guy who could hit 35+ in Texas and putting him in their #7 spot in their lineup?
If this is true, I don't like this move by Double A.......
Personally I thought Napoli fit in well for the Jays, he could easily platoon with Lind @ 1B, and then even Catch when prospect Arencibia needed days off, or if he needed more time in AAA? PLUS he could also fit in as a perfect DH.....I actually thought he would of done rather well in T.O. playing at the Rogers Center.....etc.
Dumb deal for Toronto, IMO. Great deal for Texas. Lots of values changing here. Arencibia now shoots back to his sleeper value where he was before the Napoli trade. You have to think that Texas may look to push Chris Davis in the trade market if he lights up AAA in April/May, as there doesn't seem to be much room for him and he certainly hasn't earned playing time over these guys yet (Young, Moreland, Napoli). I would assume this means Neftali Feliz is 100% the closer for texas going forward, and not going to be stretched out for the rotation this year at the very least.
Napoli is the biggest winner here. If they can find him ~500 AB, which is certainly probably, he could hit 30+ HR 5+ SB. Going to hit low in the lineup but could push 80 RBI, even though he'll have a low avg, those are outstanding numbers at the C position.
does this mean napoli gets full time at bats at DH? texas already has molina and torrealba so napoli isn't getting playing time at catcher, no?
